The hardest design challenge: when the main output is AI-generated

This was probably the most challenging project I have worked on. I designed five AI tools from scratch - an interview guide generator, project charter builder, transaction analysis tool, value creation suite, and a diligence copilot. Each one had its own use case and user type, but they all shared the same core challenge:

How do you design an interface where the main output is generated by an AI and the user needs to trust it, review it, and act on it?

β˜… The design challenge
Every tool had to balance three things: helping the user prompt the AI effectively, making the AI output trustworthy and reviewable, and ensuring the final deliverable was export-ready in formats clients already used. None of these were simple, and they all intersected.

Five enterprise consulting tools

Each tool served a specific phase of a consulting engagement. I designed them to feel like a system rather than five separate products.

Tool 01
Interview Guide Generator
Helps consultants create structured interview questions based on project context and client industry.
Tool 02
Project Charter Builder
Generates project charter documents from a guided input flow with inline review states.
Tool 03
Transaction Analysis Tool
Surfaces patterns in financial transaction data for diligence workflows.
Tool 04
Value Creation Suite
Helps identify and document value creation opportunities during M&A processes.
Tool 05
Diligence Copilot
A conversational Q&A interface that helps teams review due diligence findings and export review summaries in client-ready formats.

What drove the design thinking

Screens are confidential

Because these tools were built for enterprise clients and contain proprietary workflows, I cannot share screenshots or detailed screen recordings publicly. But I am happy to walk through the full design process on a call.
