Designed a mental-wellbeing CAT and MBA preparation platform to reduce student burnout and cognitive overload through predictable UX and structured planning.
PrepMind is a mental-wellbeing-first CAT and MBA preparation platform designed around the idea that studying is stressful enough without the app adding to it. Most prep platforms throw everything at you at once, creating cognitive overload and anxiety. I wanted to design something that felt more like a structured plan than a content dump.
Critically, it features a well-being shell with dual login modes (including a shell for adults) that bridges academic prep with deep psychological support. The platform facilitates 1-on-1 personal therapy sessions to help users improve consistently, and seamlessly integrates diagnostic sessions with licensed therapists.
The final design seamlessly bridges standard academic prep and mental wellbeing. By giving emotional health the same priority as mock scores, we reduce cognitive load and prevent burnout.
A focused, step-by-step daily plan that guides the aspirant natively, eliminating decision fatigue and resource overload.
A dedicated space to track mental energy, burnout risks, and mood. Emotional health matters as much as the score.
Direct scheduling with certified psychologists and CAT mentors to support students emotionally through the grueling 6-month prep cycle.
An embedded AI assistant providing instant study strategies, diagnostic reviews, and emotional support exactly when users feel stuck.
A quick overview of how this solution evolved from problem discovery to the final design.
PrepMind is a mental-wellbeing-first MBA exam preparation platform. Most prep platforms give you content and leave you to figure out the rest. I wanted to design something that actively reduces the stress of preparation, not just the academic difficulty.
The goal was simple: help aspirants prepare consistently without burning out. The differentiator is the wellbeing layer - 1-on-1 mentor access and therapy sessions built directly into the product. No other coaching platform does this.
Every other CAT platform focuses entirely on content volume. PrepMind is the first to treat mental health as a core driver of preparation success, providing integrated diagnostic sessions with licensed therapists.
MBA aspirants face massive mental hurdles before they even open a book. High-stress prep environments, massive study materials, and the constant fear of failure trigger severe cognitive overload and decision fatigue.
Primary research confirmed that students viewed emotional burnout as being just as critical, if not more critical, than raw academic difficulty. Feature overload in current apps actively increases their anxiety.
Rohit represents our primary user archetype: highly motivated but easily overwhelmed by the quant section, requiring a clear and structured path to maintain consistency.
Mapping the emotional cycle made it clear that the lack of structured guidance during resource selection directly triggers burnout. We redesigned the journey to guide users passively and securely.
These framing questions led directly to the design opportunities of PrepMind's wellbeing shell.
PrepMind abstracts choices away by giving users daily task roadmaps and direct, native access to professional therapy.
By keeping the IA constrained to just 4 modules, navigation stays predictable under high cognitive load.
Our primary design rule was: "Guide, don't overwhelm." Every component was designed with strict constraint systems.
Designing PrepMind demonstrated that a user's emotional state is the most critical constraint in product design.
